Republic Veng defeated Sialhawk in a penalty shootout to advance to the semi-finals of the LBS Suzuki Inter Branch YMA Football Tournament 2025.
Sialhawk led with two clean goals from R. Laldanmawia. Republic Veng equalized with goals from Lalnunzira and Krosschhuangzela, ending regular time at 2-2.
No goals were scored in extra time, leading to a penalty shootout. Sialhawk’s Famkima missed his shot, while Republic Veng converted all theirs, winning 5-4. They will face Durtlang, who beat Kawnpui Vengthar, in the semi-finals.
The first goal came in the 20th minute when Republic Veng’s defender Zoa’s error allowed R. Laldanmawia to steal the ball, drive into the box, and score in the bottom right corner with his left foot.
Just before halftime, Bda played a fine ball to Rpa, who was fouled in the box by Faka, earning a penalty. R. Laldanmawia converted it into a goal.
In the 35th minute, Republic Veng won a penalty through Valpuia, which Zirtea scored, pulling one back. In the 62nd minute, Zirtea set up Krosschhuangzela for a stunning long-range goal to level the score.
Heavy rain marked extra time, but no goals were scored. Republic Veng won 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
