In the quarter-finals of the LBS Suzuki 22nd Inter Branch YMA Football Tournament 2025, Armed Veng South defeated Kawnpui Venglai 4-0 to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
At RG Stadium, Armed Veng South scored two goals in the first half and two more in the second. J Lalbiakliana (Vala) scored twice, while Lalfamkima and Lalnunsanga (Talea) each contributed one goal.
The first goal came in the 36th minute when Dawngtea took a free kick from the left flank. The goalkeeper failed to hold it, and despite a clearance attempt by the defenders, the ball hit the post, allowing J Lalbiakliana to tap it in.
The second goal was scored in the 40th minute. Ramdina’s free kick from the halfway line found Vala in the 6-yard box, who easily slotted it in. At halftime, Armed Veng South led 2-0.
In the second half, J Lalbiakliana nearly completed a hattrick but was thwarted by the goalkeeper’s error and a chested attempt that hit the post.
In the 80th minute, Richard delivered a precise through ball to Talea, who dribbled into the box and scored with a clinical finish.
In the 89th minute, Ramdina passed to Famkima on the left flank. Famkima struck from close range inside the box, and despite a strong effort from the Kawnpui Venglai goalkeeper, the ball went in, sealing a 4-0 victory for Armed Veng South.
Despite Kawnpui Venglai being a strong team, they underperformed in this match. Armed Veng South dominated, with Johna missing a clear chance in the first half and Hriata shooting over the bar in the second after beating the goalkeeper. Kawnpui Venglai’s most dangerous moment came just before halftime when Benjamin’s curling shot from the left was brilliantly saved by Armed Veng South’s goalkeeper, Moses, who made four saves throughout the match.
